Nine Perfect Strangers

Nine Perfect Strangers Analysis

Nine Perfect Strangers is a suspense novel written by Australian author Liane Moriarty, and was first published on November 6, 2018. It is preceded by the novels, Big Little Lies (2014) and Truly Madly Guilty (2016).

The book follows nine strangers who are brought together on a topical retreat, with each of them there for a different personal reason. However, when they arrive, they are subject to weird events and find that they have been drugged and duped by the owner of the retreat, a woman known as Masha. Locked in a room together, they all come together to try to escape the retreat and return to their lives.

The book was extremely well received with the Sunday Times stating, “Astutely observed, pacey fiction. The characters and observations are acute - and often a hoot.” The Guardian also stated “the suspense keeps building in an enjoyably zany thriller.” The book has been optioned as an upcoming drama miniseries created by David E. Kelley and John Henry Butterworth and executively produced by Nicole Kidman.
