chasm

A large hole or opening; a huge distance two opposing sides.

clemency

A recognition of leniency shown toward another.

efficacious

Having shown the element of being effective or efficient.

iniquitous

Demonstrating traits of malevolence or wickedness.

sanguinary

Bloody or tending toward gruesomely violent.

vestige

A leftover attribute; signs of something that once was, but is no more.

crestfallen

A suddenly drop in emotional tenor from happiness to sadness.

frowsy

Being in a state that is unkempt, cluttered or messy.

rotund

Rounded in shape; often used to describe someone overweight.

imperative

In a state which requires immediate attention or action.

anguish

Extreme state of anxiety and emotional turmoil.

grandiloquent

Excessively showy with the purpose of creating envy or admiration.

quiver

To shake or tremble in a state of fear or anticipation.

dogmatic

Rigidly adhering to a written or understood code of rules, behavior or ethics.

imprecation

A profane swearing or the invocation of a curse upon another.

demure

Acting shy but with the intent to arouse interest.

mellifluous

Sounds that are especially pleasing to the ear.

plaintive

Sorrowful; behavior that creates a feeling of sympathy from others.

culmination

The climax of a series of related events.

besmirch

The purposeful undermining of another’s good reputation.

pompous

Behaving in a way that indicates a greater importance than one actually possesses.

jocular

Good-humored; garrulous in nature.

inscrutable

Very difficult to penetrate; mysterious.
