Bringing in Technology

Throughout the study of John Stuart Mill's "On Liberty," students with disabilities should have the option of using dictation software for writing assignments, text-to-speech software for reading assignments, or any other ADA-mandated technological accommodations.

In this lesson plan, students will be given several opportunities to use modern technology to engage with John Stuart Mill's "On Liberty" and its themes.

In the Day 2 activity "Presentations: On the Limits of Liberty," students will use philosophers' ideas about tolerance and intolerance to put controversial issues under the microscope in the form of a PowerPoint presentation.
