Ironically enough, the only books related to "Paul Revere's Ride" that students are likely to have read are their own history textbooks. Short stories and poems, though, may be a different matter. The teacher might find it useful to connect Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem with the works of other early American writers, like Washington Irving (author of "Bartleby the Scrivener") and Edgar Allan Poe (author of the poem "The Raven").
