Death and Children's Literature

Group Discussion
Objective:
Students will examine the darker elements in the narrative, and see how the attitude towards death compares with contemporary ones.

Structure:
Peter Pan contains a large amount of violence, which it treats in a fairly cavalier manner. This is unusual for contemporary children's literature, though themes of death, loss, and trauma are not.
Divide students into groups of 4-6. Have each student group examine/answer each of the following questions:
