Petrarch: Sonnets Summary

Sonnet XCIII
The poet says that he has lost the one he loved and now wherever he goes, he sees the face of his beloved. He keeps searching for her in every person, in every place. He walks alone while being in love and being interested in nothing that isn’t hers to see.

Sonnet XCV
In this sonnet, the poet appears unhappy and gloomy but though he is not happy, his love for Laura, his beloved, remains unchanged. Even a thousand changes cannot change him and his love.

Sonnet XCIX
In this sonnet, the poet names the causes of his sorrows. He is sick of the present and is living in the past which makes his mind dwell on envious thoughts.
