    What evidence does Phaedra use to argue that she has no power to resist her desire?

    Phaedra argues that love is a god, and that as a human she has no power to resist its strength. She cites deities who have fallen victim to love's power as evidence that she cannot possibly be expected to resist—for if gods have fallen under love's spell, then surely a mortal woman cannot avoid the same fate. Finally, she suggests that love has removed her logical capabilities, making her incapable of pursuing a sensible course of action.
