The imagery of truth
The affirmation of truth is made visible through sight imagery by the author. The interviewee reads the interviewer's mind and wants to avail the truth. The interviewee responds, "Your aim, so far as I can see, is to examine all the truths which affirm that there is something outside of us. You seem to be quite fair in this enterprise, for you grant us all the hypothetical truths which affirm, not that there is something outside of us." Consequently, the author intentionally highlights the significance of truth which plays a main role in the novel. The picture of truth is painted to show readers the importance of being honest and doing things correctly.
The mystery of God
The power and uniqueness of God are described using imagery which show that man cannot fully understand how God works. The author writes, "There is an old saying that God made everything under the weight, measure, and number. But some things cannot be weighed, namely, those that lack force and power, and some things lack parts and thus cannot be measured. But there is nothing that cannot be measured." The imagery shows that everything that exists, both visible and invisible, is created by God. Consequently, this imagery shows the authority of God over humanity.
The controversy
The relationship between human beings and God is depicted using imagery. Many argue that human beings see everything from God's perspective. However, the author disputes this assumption by arguing that humans have ideas that might not reflect God's doing. The author writes, "As for the controversy over whether we see everything in God or whether we have our ideas, one must understand that, even if we were to see everything in God, It would nevertheless be necessary that we also have our ideas, that is not little copies of God's, as it were, but affections or modifications of our mind corresponding to that very thing that we perceived in God." The author creates a visual image between God and man and shows that man can never know everything about God. God's operations are different and can only be revealed spiritually.
