Musket (Symbol)
The Bennet family lives during the spread of a ruthless and mortal infection, which does not spare lives. Zombies are the reason for somebody's pain and tortures. And that's why Mr. Bennet sends his daughters to the Chinese school, where they learn the martial art. But the most infallible way to kill zombie is a musket. Musket is a weapon. It has a symbolical meaning. For Elizabeth it symbolizes an elimination of conflict and death.
Letters (Symbol)
All characters of “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” send letters to each other. For example, Mr. Bingley sends letters with a declaration of love to Jane. Mr. Darcy sends a letter to Elizabeth, where he tells all truth about Mr. Wickham and he also makes a declaration of love. Letters hide all secrets and the private life of main characters. Letters are a symbol of the privacy, secrets and real feelings between lovers.
Survival (Motif)
Every personage tries to survive under difficult conditions. And it is not strange. Everybody wants to get rid of blows of fortune. To survive in such a cruel world, when the infection destroys every soul, is hard. Only a person with the strong fortitude can survive after the surprise attack of zombies. If to be honest, love is a survival game too. Elizabeth and Jane avoid all obstacles and achieve happy and sincere love. This novel has a comic composition, but actually the motif of survival shows readers the dramatic side of this plot. It teaches to be brave and always combat for a place under the sun.
