Prometheus in Poetry
Kind of Activity:
Group Work
Objective:
Students will read and analyze poems written about the Prometheus myth.
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.7
Structure:
Many writers have been inspired by Prometheus's story throughout the ages, and poets in particular have used his myth in their work. For this activity, small groups of students will be assigned different poems based on Prometheus. They will annotate the poems and interpret them, then present their findings to the class.
Ideas for Differentiated Instruction:
In groups with less familiarity with annotating poetry, this could be done as a large-group activity.
