Students will create a "portrait" of one of the novel's characters.

Structure:

Hardy's writing is full of vibrant details of his characters, creating a clear mental picture of the denizens of the heath. As we make our way through the novel, the information he provides on their looks and personalities continues to pile up, creating rich and active imagery.
