Sea of Tranquility

Sea of Tranquility Analysis

The fascinating story in the book centers on the characters whose lives intersect despite living at different times. In the year 1912, Edwin St. Andrew is disowned by the members of his community due to his unbecoming behavior. Edwin is sent away but changes his mind and hides in the deep forest. During his stay in the forest he catches a glimpse of a rare sound of a guitar being played near an unspecified place. The sound of a guitar puzzles him. The voices of a guitar signify the hallucinations suffered by Edwin due to distress.

Edwin seems to have lost touch with reality indicating that he is mad. The situation reflects the climax of the story where, after a century, a detective discovers a banished mad person in the same forest Edwin heard guitar voices. Olive is a book author who has visited planet earth to market her book. The woman hails from the second colony of the moon colony and her first destination is New York City. The beauty of planet earth makes her wish to stay in the new world forever. However, she misses the charming personality of her husband and her daughter.

The connection of the lives of the characters occurs when an investigator called Gaspery-Jacques Roberts is tasked with investigating perplexing events relating to other characters. Roberts unravels mysteries that illustrate the experiences of Edwin and Olive. The book explores experiences faced by people during the pandemic. The events that take place in the book parallel the real-life situations experienced during the time of the Covid-19.
