Selected Stories of H.P. Lovecraft

Selected Stories of H.P. Lovecraft Analysis

The works of science fiction, horror, and fantasy by H.P Lovecraft surface as one of the world's best creative writings ever created. Lovecraft's cosmologies of interplanetary divinities and ominous forces have enthused contemporary writers to think beyond science fiction to come up with chilling tales. Lovecraft's popularity multiplied after his death in 1937.

In the story 'Dagon,' Lovecraft narrates a tale of a morphine-addicted male living beneath the waves. The morphine-addicted male is the protagonist, and the story is about his perturbing life, which reflects the despondent lives of the antique race of fish people. The story 'Nyarlathotep' talks about Egyptology and the magical creatures that symbolized another facet of earth. In 'The Rats in the Walls,' Lovecraft narrates about an American man who returned to his old house in England after the death of his son. This is the most horrifying story because the man is woken up at night by the weird sounds of rats scuttling all over. After waking up, he notices that his ancestors are after his blood because they survive on human blood.

The other alien horror stories in the collection include The Statement of Randolph, Herbert West, At the Mountains of Madness, From Beyond, The Color out of Space, The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, and the Call of Cthulhu, The Shadow over Innsmouth and The Whisperer in Darkness.
