Lelia Goldoni
Lelia Goldoni is an American actress whose role in Shadows is what she is most well known for. She participated in Cassavetes experimental film which was improvised. Miss Goldoni was nominated at the 1961 BAFTA Awards for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film roles for her work in this film.
Ben Carruthers
Ben Carruthers is most well known for his roles in Shadows and The Dirty Dozen. He and co-star Lelia Goldini were married after filming with Cassavetes, but soon divorced in the same year. Carruthers career would end prematurely as he passed away from liver failure in 1983 at the age of 47.
Hugh Hurd
Hugh Hurd's first film role was in Shadows with John Cassavetes. He'd later work with the director years later in A Woman Under The Influence. Hurd was well known for his role as a Civil Rights activist joining with Godfrey Cambridge and Maya Angelou to organize one of the first benefits in New York for Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which was held at the Village Gate in the late 1950s.
Anthony Ray
Anthony Ray is the son of Nicholas Ray who directed Rebel Without A Cause. Anthony began as an actor garnering parts in films, but would go on to have a career as a producer which was capped off with an Academy Award Nomination for An Unmarried Woman in 1978.
