So Much to Tell You Characters

So Much to Tell You Character List

Marina

Marina was a fourteen year old girl, who was living in a boarding school. She suffers an acid attack in order to save her mother. The attack makes her quiet and she starts keeping things inside herself. In the boarding school, she doesn't talk to anyone. She doesn't make friends or play with her class mates. It was her English teacher who asked the class to keep diaries and the reader is introduced to Marina through those diaries. Otherwise, she was only a observer who was not involved in any action. Marina has shared the minute details in her diary about the people who surrounded her, their actions, their behaviors and their kind or unkind attitude towards her. After writing her diary, she starts making friends but she couldn't muster up the courage to talk to people. Her introvert nature doesn't allow her to share her feelings with others but she gets indulged in friendly relationships with her fellows.

Marina's Father

Marina's father was abusive and he attempts to throw acid on his wife. Marina becomes the victim and she starts hating him for the rest of her life. Despite of knowing that her father threw the acid, she doesn't tell anyone about the incident. She was sent to the boarding school just because she didn't tell anything. She writes about her hatred for her father in the diary. After writing about the terrible and traumatic things of her life, she forgives her father. She didn't speak during her stay in the boarding school and eventually she speaks to her father after forgiving him and says "Hello, Dad... I've got so much to tell you."

Marina's Mother

Another character which has been mentioned in the book is Marina's mother who was living with an abusive husband and suffers violence. Her husband attacks her with acid but Marina saves her mother. Her face got burnt and there remain a scar on her face. She resents her father because of his treatment with her mother.

Mr. Lindell

Mr. Lindell was Marina's English teacher and he was so kind and sympathetic towards his students. He understands Marina's silence and asks his class to keep diaries to jot down things about their lives. The writer himself was a teacher and this character seems to be like the author himself because he also wrote books to assist his students. It was through writing her story that Marina came out of her traumatic state.

Class Fellows

There are Marina's class fellows whom Marina observes very closely but they were unaware of her observation. She says that her class fellows wouldn't have a clue that she notices them but she was aware of everything that they used to do in the class. The children wanted to befriend her but she didn't allow anyone to enter her friendship zone. After her catharsis through the diary, she makes friends and she couldn't resist playing with them.
