Someday Background

Someday Background

Someday (2018) is the third and final novel in author David Levithan's Every Day series. Once again, Levithan's novel delves into the lives of A, Rhiannon, Nathan, and Reverend Poole. For much of his life, A has thought he was one of a kind. At the start of each day, A inhabits the bodies and souls of a different person. However, he eventually learns that there are more people like him, easing his growing sense of loneliness and unease. With this revelation, A starts to once again ponder existential questions such as what constitutes a soul and what makes us human.

Separately, Rhiannon begins dating Alexander, whom A inhabited prior to disconnecting from his friends. But Rhiannon yearns to reconnect with A, who doesn't realize the extent that Rhiannon loves him so much. In an effort to find A once again, Alexander and Rhiannon team up, but they first must get past Reverend Poole, who is enraged by them and wants to find A first.

Traditionally, later entries in a series receive progressively more negative reviews. However, in the case of the Every Day series, reviews for new novels got progressively better with each new entry in the series. In their review of Levithan's novel, The Los Angeles Times said that the novel's "story is always alluring, oftentimes humorous and much like love itself-- splendorous."
