Compare and contrast tangerine middle school with lake Windsor middle school

Both schools are in Lake country. Lake Windsor has separated gendered soccer teams, Tangerine does not. Tangerine is a poorer and rougher school than Lake Windsor. Tangerine's Mascot is the War Eagles, Lake Windsor has a seagull. Lake Windsor has sinkholes and Tangerine has a sort of fire burning underground.

Lake Windsor is a higher class school and has less gangs. Tangerine is a lower class school and has more gangs and violence. Both schools do have excelling soccer teams but Tangerine combines both genders and Lake Windsor does not.

At one point, Tangerine MS was a wealthy school. This can be seen in the text when it says, "worn marble stairs" (10). The word “worn” (10) means they don’t have enough money to repair them. Furthermore, "marble stairs" and expensive thus Tangerine Middle School was once wealthy too. Present-day schools don't use marble stairs, therefore, it must be an old building. This symbolizes strength, due to being capable of withstanding tough weather. Paul says, "I haven't been on the third floor of anything since we moved here." (❡10) Tangerine MS also has 3 floors, which also means they were once rich and could afford that. Moreover, Tangerine Middle School has a poor and old neighborhood. Lake Windsor is a wealthy school, given clues that wealthy people live there. Since Paul is rich, his dad is a "Director of civil engineering"(❡739). Plus Joey is rich, his dad is a "Lawyer" (❡203) and that's their closest school. And even though it's a wealthy school, the building is small. As stated in the text, the building only “contains the main office, Cafeteria, the library, and all the six grade classrooms.”(❡166). Mrs. Gates explained in paragraph 166. They don’t have enough classrooms, so most of them are in portable classrooms, along with not having a gym. In conclusion, Tangerine Middle School is an old poor school, and Lake Windsor is a richer smaller school.
