Historical Comparison
Kind of Activity:
Group Discussion
Objective:
Students will be able to compare events in the book to current events
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RH.9-10.4
Structure:
Have students read 1-2 sources on the history of post-World War I Europe. Some ideas may be these websites:
1) https://history.libraries.wsu.edu/fall2014/2014/08/29/the-american-industrial-revolution-and-its-affect-of-the-19th-century/
2) https://history.howstuffworks.com/historical-events/europe-after-world-war-11.htm
After reading, have a 20 minute discussion comparing the historical and fictional events in the book, and have students try to draw parallels to current events....
