Ventral and anterior are both terms that refer to the front side of the body in the anatomical position. Back and rear are not terms that apply to the body in the anatomical position. Posterior and dorsal each refer to the backside of the body in the anatomical position. Medial and lateral refer to the midline and the left and right sides of the body in the anatomical position.
