The urinogenital traingle and the anal triangle are parts of the perineal space. The perineal space is a diamond shape area inferior to the pelvic diaphragm. It extends from the pubic symphysis anteriorly to the coccyx posteriorly; laterally it is bordered by the ischial tuberosities. The superficial transverse perineal muscle divides the perieneal space into superior urinogenital triangle and inferior/distal anal triangle.
The urinogenital triangle is bounded by the pubic symphysis, the ischiocavernosus muscles, the ischial tuberosities and the transverse perineal muscle. The analmtriagle lies inferior to the urinogenital triangle. It is bounded by the transverse perineal muscle anteriorly ans laterally and inferiorly by lines joining the ischial tuberosities to the coccyx. The anal triangle contains the anus and the external anal sphincter.
