The second class of levers produces the most force . In this class the load/weight. or resistance(R) is positioned between the effort (or power) and the fulcrum. In this arrangement some speed and range of motion are given up to obtain maximum force. An example of the second order of levers movement is displayed by standing on tip toe. In this example the ball of the foot is the fulcrum, the the weight of the body is the load or resistance (R), and the effort or power E) is exerted when the muscles of the calf (gastrocnemius and soleus muscles) contract.
