The circuit starts with the input or presynaptic neuron ; then comes the first synapse and a postsynaptic neuron or neurons. Several other synapses, and postsynaptic neurons may follow in various types of arrangements. The end of the circuit is the final post synaptic neuron(s) or output neuron.
