Leukocytes (WBCs) are categorized into granular leukocytes and agranular leukocytes. There are three types of granular leukocytes and two types of agranular leukocytes. Neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils are all granular leukocytes because they contain visible vesicles which are granular-like when staining occurs. On the other hand, agranular leukocytes do not contain these granular components. You can clearly see the difference between a granular and agranular leukocyte when they are stained.
