The thoracic duct carries blood from the cisterna chyli to the vena cava.
The thoracic duct receives lymph from the left side of the head and neck, and from the upper limb;it also drains the entire body inferior to the ribs. It empties into the blood stream at the junction of the left internal jugular and the left subclavian veins.
The right lymphatic duct drains the right side of the body and delivers lymph to the blood stream at the junction of the right internal jugular and the right subclavian veins.
