Work Step by Step
Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is secreted from the anterior pituitary under GnRH stimulation. FSH stimulates the Sertoli cells to produce inhibin. Inhibin suppresses/inhibits FSH secretion by the AP. Luteinizing hormone is also secreted by the AP under GnRH stimulation. One effect of LH is to stimulate Leydig cells of the testes to secrete testosterone. Testosterone feeds back negatively on both the AP and the hypothalamus to suppress LH secretion.
