The gene for this inherited disease is known to be carried/transmitted on the X chromosone . Therefore, hemophilia is what is known as a sex-linked-- or more accurately-- an x-linked disease. Jack is a male, so he got a Y chromosome -- not an X chromosome-- from his father. His X chromosome, with the hemophilia A gene, was transmitted to him by his mother.
