Answer

A Phagocyte sends out pseudopods when foreign particles bind to plasma membrane receptors of the phagocyte (e.g. macrophage). A pseudopod --projection of cytoplasm and plasma membrane encircles the particle and forms a vesicle ( phagosome) outside the phagocyte. The vesicle is progressively drawn into the cytoplasm where if fuses with a lysome. Lysomal enzymes are secreted into the vesicle where they digest the trapped particle, cell or other living entity.
