I would not expect a wound that is confined to the epidermis to bleed because the epidermis has no blood supply of its own.

The epidermis comprises four or five strata of tightly packed-epithelial cells. As such, it has no blood supply, but is dependent on the rich vascular supply of the underlying dermis for the transporting in of nutrients and the removal of its waste products. . So, if the wound did not at least nick a dermal capillary, or venule, there would be no bleeding.
