The clavicle has two prominent curves: in the anatomical position, the medial half of the bone has a convex curve anteriorly, and the lateral half has a concave curve anteriorly. This region of the clavicle--near the mid-point--is the most frequently fractured part of the bone. Clavicular fractures occur frequently when one tries to break a forward fall by stretching out both arms. Also, many clavicular fractures occur in motor vehicle accidents. Fractures of the clavicle account for about 10% of all boby fractures
