The false pelvis is the part of the pelvis above the pelvis brim. It is clinically important because it supports and protects vital organs of the abdomino-pelvic cavity. Some of these organs are the upper urinary bladder, the lower intestines in both sexes, also the uterus, ovaries and oviducts in females.
The true pelvic is inferior to the pelvic brim ; it has an inlet and an outlet. It is important because contains and protects the vagina, the cervix, part of the uterus in the female, and the prostate in males.
