Chapter 7 - 7.5 - Concept Check - Page 141: 3

Answer

Like any other protein which ends up outside the cell, an ECM glycoprotein will be translated at the RER and there inserted into the ER lumen. It will be glycolylated there and in the Golgi, which is reaches by transport vesicle. From there, it will be exocytosed to be deposited outside the cell.

Work Step by Step

This question is asking you to review exocytosis and apply the general information about it in the chapter to the specific case of an animal ECM protein.
