Melanosomes are scattered throughout the cytoplasm in dark-colored cells, whereas they are clustered near the nucleus in the case of light-colored cells. They move along cytoskeletal tracks with the help of microtubules, which arise near the nucleus with their positive ends projecting out, and motor proteins such as kinesin and dynein, which move along microtubules.
