Chapter 10 - Meiosis and Sexual Reproduction - Assess - Page 185: 11

Answer

c. meiosis II

Work Step by Step

After meiosis I, each daughter cell has five chromosomes, but each chromosome still has two sister chromatids. During meiosis II, the sister chromatids separate, so each daughter cell ends up with five chromosomes, each consisting of one chromatid. In mitosis, the daughter cells would have five chromosomes with two chromatids each, not one. In meiosis I, the chromosomes still have two chromatids each.
