The factor that may regulate the duration of the PillCam within the gastrointestinal tract is the condition of the GI tract before the PillCam is swallowed. If the PillCam is swallowed by the time in which the large intestine is already filled up, the PillCam might also be readily excreted due to contractions. That is why the PillCam is usually taken at the start of the day with a glass of water and light food can be taken 2 hours after it has been swallowed.
