Answer

C

Work Step by Step

A cytotoxic T cell is a T lymphocyte (a type of white blood cell) that is responsible for killing damaged cells, cancer cells and cells that are infected (particularly with viruses). It carries out its function by releasing preformed cytotoxic protein that is of two types: the granzymes and perforin. The granzyme induces apoptosis in any type of target cell, and perforin (the pore-forming protein), punches holes in the target-cell membrane so that granzymes can enter it.
