Fifth disease, or erythema infectiosum, is a viral disease caused by parvovirus B19. The disease is mainly transmitted by respiratory secretions. In addition, it is characterized by fever, headache, flu like symptoms, and a lacy rash on extremities and the torso. Also, another rash appears on face, particularly the cheeks, that is bright red in color.
