Strep throat is pharyngitis caused by group A streptococcus. It is a beta hemolytic gram-positive bacteria that is responsible for causing a number of invasive and noninvasive infections. It is spread because of direct contact with skin sores or mucus. Clinical features of strep throat are redness of the back of pharynx, fever, swelling of lymph nodes, malaise, and headache.
