Work Step by Step

In my area, I obtained a soil survey published by the Natural Resource Conservation Service. I selected two different sites for comparison. The first site was a flat, agricultural field with deep, well-drained soils, consistent with the soil survey's description of fertile soils in the region. The second site was a forested hillside with shallower, more weathered soils, confirming the presence of less fertile soils in upland areas as documented in the soil survey. Visiting these sites and comparing them with the soil survey allowed me to understand the correlation between soil characteristics and different landforms or deposits in the area.
