Why does Christopher put himself in danger to rescue Toby from the train tracks?
Christopher immediately understands that Toby might get run over by a train, but doesn't consider his own safety at all. He puts Toby's life above his own. Many students may find this choice strange or unreasonable, since Toby is "just" a rat.
