Gordon Gregg
Gregg is the main protagonist of the story. He is an affluent and powerful British aristocrat, who is embroiled in the mystery of a missing woman. He is often rash and impulsive and leaps at the chance of being a hero.
Czar
The Czar is good friends with Gregg and hired him to look into prison conditions in Russia. However, he becomes involved in a far more deadly mystery, hence, turning ‘spy’ for the Czar.
The Young Woman
Gregg comes across a photo of a beautiful young woman, torn to pieces, onboard dinner on a yacht. Soon, he realizes that the young woman is linked to series of events when the consulate’s safe is burgled. He learns that the woman’s photo holds a deadly secret, revealed only at the end of the story.
