John Grisham is one of the most well-known popular fiction writers working today. Much of his work is set in the world of the law, and The Exchange (2023) is no different. The Exchange, which is a sequel to one of his most popular books called The Firm, once again follows Mitch and Abby McDeere after the events in The Firm (when they exposed the crimes of Bendini, Lambert & Locke, a local law firm).
Fifteen years after the event of The Firm, the McDeere's have moved themselves to Manhattan. There, Mitch works at a large, multinational law firm as a partnered attorney. At first, Mitch thinks that he has put the past behind him. But when a colleague reaches out to him from Rome, he is once again sucked into a wide-ranging conspiracy that implicates a number of powerful people and organizations. However, it won't be easy for Mitch to unravel the conspiracy and ensure his own safety this time, even though he works hard to do so.
Advance reviews for The Exchange have been largely positive, likely creating yet another bestseller for Grisham. Kirkus Reviews wrote a glowing review of the novel, calling it "A tense legal thriller with nary a courtroom scene."
