Harriet Lovatt
Harriet is the housewife of the Lovatt family. She works as a graphic designer and appears pretty much like an exemplary companion and a parent to her five children. Her main feature is being a traditional lady and she shares a few conservative principles with her beloved spouse as well. Throughout the story, she also appears as a devoted wife.
David Lovatt
David Lovatt is a husband to Harriet. He works as an architect and has 5 children with his beloved wife. His dream was to build a huge family and purchased a dwelling in the suburbs of London soon after he married Harriet. He appears rather idealistic throughout the novel. However, the decision that he made regarding Ben has proven him to be quite sensible as well.
Ben Lovatt
Ben is the fifth child of the Lovatt family. Because of his appearance, he is often referred to as a troll by his family members. Ben has extraordinary physical toughness and a destructive character. He feels like an outcast in his huge family and although is surrounded by his siblings he never really fits in.
