Narrator

The narrator shares her dilemma of Identity through this essay, where she describes what kind of struggles she has faced as an American-Korean. She always feels that she doesn't have her own identity, neither a Korean nor an American.

Narrator's Parents

The narrator's parents are from Korea and live in the United States, but they raised her daughter as an American. They didn't bother to teach her their mother tongue, because of their lapse, the narrator even pronounces her name incorrectly. The narrator's parents want their child to live like an American but also expect her to preserve their Korean lineage through marrying a Korean man.
