Published in 2010, The Hairdresser of Harare is a fictional book by Zimbabwean author Tendai Huchu. The book focuses on how Zimbabwe is in the present day, rapidly changing and expanding based upon influential western ideas. All of the book is told from the point of view of a hairdresser in Harare (hence the title), giving the reader an up-close and realistic view of what the country is like.

Tendai Huchu is a Zimbabwean author, best known for his debut novel, The Hairdresser of Harare. The hit book, which was translated into several languages, was followed by The Maestro, The Magistrate & The Mathematician, which was published in 2014. Huchu has not become a full-time author, instead moving to Scotland and working as a podiatrist.
