"The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World" is a magical realist short story by Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez, who is largely considered the "father" of magical realism. The story was first published in Spanish in 1968, then published by Playboy in English in 1971. The story was later published in the collection Leaf Storm and Other Stories in 1972. The story follows a small fishing village after the arrival of a drowned man on their shore.
