Anh Do

He is the father of Anh, Tram, and Khoa. He is the former husband of Anh's mother. He is the mastermind behind his family's escape to Australia from Vietnam.
Khoa
He is Tam and Anh's mother's son. He is also a brother to Anh and Tram. During the escape journey, he was the youngest kid in the family.
Tram.
She is a sister to Anh and Khoa. She is also the daughter of Tam and Anh’s mother. She is born in Australia after the successful escape of her family from Vietnam.
Suzie
She is Anh’s wife and a mother to Xavier and Leon. She is naturally beautiful and a graduate of law school. She is from a rich family which is a direct contrast of Anh but that does not hinder their marriage.
Uncle Thanh
He is the husband of Huong, Anh's mother. He took part in the Vietnam War. After the war, he is forced to stay in a re-communist education camp.
Uncle Huv
He is Anh's uncle and brother to Thanh. He took part in the Vietnam War and later together with his brother sent to a re-communist education camp.
Uncle One
He is an uncle to Anh and the elder brother to Tam. He is murdered before joining Tam’s family in the perilous escape to Australia from Vietnam.
Uncle Two
He is a brother to tam and brother in law to Anh's mother. He takes part in a dangerous escape to Australia. When they arrive in Australia, he moves out to live with his family far from Tam's family.
