The Relationships: the Building Blocks of Life 11th Grade
Having meaningful relationships is an essential part of one’s life as it provides the individual with an external support system, whether it be emotionally or physically. In fact, just the mere idea of knowing you have people you can count on when you can't necessarily rely completely on your own is a relief, as no one wants to go through life in solitude. Throughout The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, it is indisputable how crucial certain relationships are to the characters of the novel. In particular, the main character of the story, Starr Carter, has relied on and benefited from the relationships in her life, specifically the one she has with her father, Maverick Carter. Her father is consistently present in Starr’s life as her rock, her ultimate support throughout all her ups and downs, and is always there to give her advice and tell her the truth, even when that’s the last thing she wants to hear. Thus, the most important relationship in Starr’s life is the one she has with her father because it showed Starr how important it is to be proud of and loyal to her community and he helped her learn to be brave by using her voice to stand up to injustice.
