Mr. Kim (The Husband)

Mr. Kim is a middle-class music teacher who works at a factory. He lives with his wife and children in a modest home. At first, he appears disciplined and responsible, but he becomes weak and morally compromised after being seduced by the housemaid. His poor decisions led to the destruction of his family and ultimately his downfall.

Mrs. Kim (The Wife)

Mrs. Kim is a hardworking and devoted wife who supports her husband and cares for their children. She represents traditional family values and stability. Despite her effort to maintain order in her home, she becomes a victim of the housemaid's manipulation and her husband's betrayal. She tries to hold the family together but suffers greatly.

The Housemaid (Myung-sook)

The housemaid is a manipulative and mysterious young woman hired to help the family. She is the central antagonist of the film. She seduces Mr. Kim and gradually takes control of the household through fear, threat, and psychological manipulation. Her obsessive and unstable behaviour leads to tragic consequences for everyone in the house.

The Children

The Kim family has two children who represent innocence and vulnerability. They are greatly affected by the tension and chaos in the home. One of the children suffers physically and emotionally due to the toxic environment created by the adults, highlighting the destructive impact of the situation.

Factory Girl

The factory girl is one of Mr. Kim's students who admire him. She plays a minor role but helps introduce the theme of temptation early in the story. Her admiration for Mr. Kim foreshadows his involvement with the housemaid.
