Rohan
Rohan is a hopeful space navigator aboard the interstellar ship The Invicible, who cannot help but hope the alien bio-organisms that attacked their company can be defeated somehow. Perhaps they cannot be defeated, but Rohan is convinced that perhaps they could save the four missing crew members who were lost in battle. Rohan searches alien wastelands hoping to find signs of life or survivors, but all he finds are dead bodies.
Horpach
The commander of The Invincible, this man isn't like Rohan. He doesn't believe there is anyone out there to save. Although typically, a commander's job is to leave no man behind, or something like that, Horpach would much rather save himself and Rohan, but Rohan is convinced that the right thing is to stay and search. Horpach is a pragmatic person, and the question of whether he is a weak or evil person is up for debate. He might just be a realist.
The Condor crew
Years before, a sister ship was lost through conflict with the alien-robotic organisms that The Invincible crew fights to defeat. They look for the crew of that ship on alien planets, but instead, they discover their horrible deaths at the hands of alien lifeforms. The rescue mission quickly turns into a survival mission, as the aliens are still around, and no one knows whether to stay or go.
