How is the character of Messua similar to Mother Wolf?

One of Mowgli's foster mothers is a human being and the other is a wolf. Otherwise, these two characters are very analogous. Similarities between the two include:

• Neither are Mowgli's biological mother, but both love him as though they were
• Both develop a maternal bond with Mowgli almost instantly upon meeting him
• Both remain loyal to Mowgli even as he is rejected by the rest of the pack/village

Shere Khan has a distinctive limp and burn marks from Mowgli's attack on him with fire. These injuries do not appear to impede his predatory skills. However, they lead him to defeat in other ways.
